Brief Bio:
As an undergraduate student, Aileen Monks attended the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where she double majored in elementary education and special education. She graduated with Magna Cum Ladue. During her sophomore year, she studied abroad with the Semester at Sea program and circumnavigated the globe visiting twelve countries around the world while continuing her studies. While on this journey, Ms. Monks took advantage of the opportunity to visit several international schools and better her understanding of the education systems in various countries. As a senior, she spent six weeks teaching students in a second grade classroom and an additional six weeks teaching in a high school special education classroom. She received her Master's degree in education, with a focus on teaching english as a second language, from the University of Scranton. While working toward her graduate degree, she was inducted into the international honor society of education, Kappa Delta Pi, and spent a four week practicum teaching in an english as a second language classroom
